Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When does the garden season start?

A: We are open June 20, 2008 through September 14, 2008.

Q: How do I reserve a date and time?

A: Dates and times are held with the non refundable deposit, without the deposit no date or time is held and it becomes a first come first serve basis.

Q: Can our gardens hold the reception too?

A: No, we book wedding ceremonies and photos shoots only, receptions are held off site.

Q: What do I do if it rains?

A: Most people have a backup site, like a church or some indoor option. Some people  have even used the reception site for the ceremony.

Q: How many people can the garden accommodate?

A: Up to 300 people.

Q: Can you bring in more chairs if you need them?

A: Yes, we provide 100 chairs set up and if you need more you may rent them from the gardens for a $1.00 a chair. Scherer Gardens can provide 50 extra chairs. If more are needed or you rent chairs elsewhere Scherer Gardens must be notified prior to the chairs brought in. We recommend Crown Rental, Burnsville for all your rental needs.

Q: What if it is really hot?

A: We suggest a canopy for shade from the sun or in the event of small garden showers. These can be rented from a third party and brought in with prior notification. We recommend Crown Rental Burnsville for all your rental needs.

Q: Can we bring in audio equipment?

A: A lot of weddings now require audio equipment for music and for your vows to be enhanced. Audio is brought in on your own we do provide the electrical outlets in the main trellis. We recommend Crown Rental Burnsville for all your rental needs.

Q: What if we need more time in the garden?

A: This needs to be thought of at the time of booking since our dates and times are a first come first serve basis we cannot guarantee extra time for your day later on in the season.

Q: How much does extra time cost?

A: Extra time is booked at $225.00 an hour. Time must be booked in by the hour, no exceptions.

Q: Do we provide runners for the bridal party to walk down?

A: No, they can be brought in, and removed, on your own.

Q: Do we provide maps for your wedding invitations?

A: No, not at this time. We suggest going to www.mapquest.com and get directions and a detailed map to printout from all directions.

Q: When is the best time to contact someone about the gardens?

A: The best times to reach us is in the evenings after 4:30pm. It may take us some time to return calls and emails during the planting season. Our planting season starts in the greenhouse in March and goes through September so please for a faster responce try emailing us at scherergardens@comcast.net.

Q: Is there enough parking for a large wedding?

A: Yes, we have weddings of 300 people quite often and parking has never been a problem. We do suggest for larger weddings to have an appointed person direct the parking. Scherer Gardens does not provide this service.

Q: Can I meet with someone to go over the details of my wedding before the rehearsal?

A: Yes, Scherer Gardens will have someone meet with you, but you must call and arrange an appointment.

Q: Will someone from the Gardens be present during my rehearsal?

A: No, the rehearsals are done on your own. If you need someone to be there that needs to be scheduled in advance.

Q: Will someone from the gardens be present during my wedding?

A: Scherer Gardens always has someone present on the grounds during the wedding ceremonies.
